3 D pieces... took me so long!!!

I made a 3D pieces. I used paper and scissors :D
I made a 3 basic swans :D the technique I used to make the is called Origami. I learned that Origami is a traditional Japanese art of paper folding. Origami from ori meaning 'folding' and kami meaning 'paper'.
To make a 3D Origami swan i needed 484 paper triangles, therefore i had to cut out from the paper sheets, 484  small rectangles and then I folded them into  triangles units. I joined the units together side by side, finished first and second raw.. i continued up to 7th raw, then i started narrowing the  after each raw, on the two side.. they started look like  a body of swan.. the easiest was neck :) that was veryyyyyy long night! The reason why I choose to make this 3 d looking piece was that it remindsm e the idea of the cup  I would really want to make:D

Magic and spells.....

I have decided to use for my project the story of 'children of Lir'. I just think it is going to be more interesting, I am not Irish and I am going to get to know part of Irish culture. As i said in my last post, I went to take a photos of swans.. have to say they are so great looking, but also very cranky!! when i started taking pics, they got very confident and actually started fallowing me! i got some fright.. haha funny thing is, that in the water they are amazing but when they walk on the look fair weird :D  so here is few photos:

I found out the types of swans like :
> whooper
> trumpeter
> tundra
> black-necked
> black
> berwick
> corsoba
> whistling
> mute

I started doing the research about the swans. Awhhhh I think they are a beautiful creatures! the line of their neck, they are just amazing.
I also had I little chat with the tutors, to see where my project is going to.  I told them about the fairy tale i choose, amazingly there is Irish legend, with very similar story! It is called 'Childer of Lir'. hmmm now i have to think which one is better for my project.
To extend my research I am going at the river, to take a photos of a swans! this is going to be exciting.

is it my favourite yet??????

So after reading all the fairy tales, the one I like the most is The six swans. It belongs to the subcategory of fairy tales about brothers who turn into the birds.the princess must take a cow of silence to save her brothers from a curse, the king who falls in love with her despite the seeming insanity of the curse conditions, and the connection that is strong enough to overcome the isolating power of the princess vow. the princess saves her brothers. I think it is such a beautiful story.

Narrative Project :D

I have decided to use what I have learned, so I started my project from brainstorming. For the project I choose the word ''BOOK''. I like reading books, this was always my hobby, something I like the spend my free time. Since i started my project I always knew what direction I wanted it to go.. Fairy Tales, children stories, legends.. this is the way I wanna go with my project.. Since I was small i loved when my mum was reading me stories, of cindrella and the others.. I really liked to watch the illustrations. I think they are pretty amazing.

Christy Keeney...

This week started very interesting.. The guest arrived in our college, unfortunately we are going to have him only for two days...:( Well, Christy gave us a talk and demonstration about his Art.. He showed u how to make a ''head'' which was very interesting.

Ceramics!!

finally! I got into the discipline I really wanted :) CERAMICS:)

The first week we got the brief for the project based on problem based on learning. The problem is: to explore the breath of ceramics in 2012 a suggested by the term pot, vessel, object. At first it sounds complicated, but it started interesting as we got our group together. Me, Marina, Aoife and Shelby...
first we gave everyone task in group :
Monika- scribe
Marina- chairperson
Aoife- reporter
Shelby- reporter

All together we done brainstorming. We gathered all the information about ceramics on big sheet of paper, and then we shared between us, who has to research about what.. I ve done research about methods, and history. I also researched information about an artist, who is suppose to come up to college for a demonstration, Christy Keeney.
some of his works:

The project went very well. on Friday we presented our work to group.. I have to say it was a nerve wrecking for me, I really do not feel comfortable talking in front of public.. but I hope  this is one of the skills I have to learn in Art college.
